North Dakota has been under a State of Emergency in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic since March 13, 2020. The North Dakota Division of Insurance issued a statement to all Insurers on March 30, 2020, which urges North Dakota insurers, producers, adjusters and other licensed persons to provide flexibility and possible relief for North Dakota consumers and businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including the following:

  • Provide an extension of premium payment deadlines and existing premium grace periods.
  • Allow additional time before non-renewals or cancellations become effective.
  • Extend proof of loss deadlines.
  • Waive fees, penalties, or other charges relating to an insured's temporary inability to submit premium payments or otherwise respond as a result of this public health crisis.
  • Develop payment plan options for consumers and businesses who are facing financial hardship.
