We know many of our independently owned small business policyholders are facing increasingly difficult financial circumstances. In coordination with the New York Department of Financial Services, we want you to know that we are making available special billing accommodations.
If you are an independently owned small business employing 100 or fewer individuals and you are facing financial hardship because of the COVID-19 pandemic, please contact our team at (800) 735-3284 or cust.relations@selective.com to request a billing accommodation. Accommodations include:
- Suspension of the effective date of a policy cancellation, non-renewal or conditional renewal until May 29, 2020.
- Waiver of fees typically imposed for late premium payments.
If you choose to take advantage of these accommodations, Selective will not:
- Report you to a credit-reporting agency.
- Refer your account to a debt collection agency.
After the suspension of a policy cancellation, non-renewal or conditional renewal, if your COVID-19-related financial hardship continues, we will permit you to pay your remaining premium balance over a 12-month period. You may be required to email us some additional information about your financial hardship in certain circumstances.
Please know that if you take advantage of any or all of these accommodations, Selective will not prohibit you from voluntarily cancelling your policy with us.
