South Carolina Bulletin No. 2020-02

South Carolina has been under a State of Emergency due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) since March 13, 2020. The South Carolina Department of Insurance issued Bulletin No. 2020-02 on March 25, 2020, in which the Director of Insurance advises that he expects all insurers to work with South Carolina citizens and businesses directly impacted by COVID-19 to provide relief from certain insurance requirements.

The relief may include:

  • Extension of premium payment, and proof of loss deadlines.
  • Additional time before non-renewals or cancellations become effective.
  • Waiver of fees, penalties or other charges relating to an insured’s temporary inability to submit premium payments or otherwise respond as a result of COVID-19.
