Washington has been under a State of Emergency in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic since February 29, 2020. The Washington State Office of Insurance Commissioner issued Emergency Order No. 20-03 on March 25, 2020, which orders that between March 25, 2020 and May 9, 2020:
- Insurers shall provide grace periods for nonpayment of premium and waive charges and fees associated with nonpayment of premium, such as late fees and reinstatement fees.
- Policies shall not be canceled for nonpayment, unless specifically directed to do so by the insured.
This order will expire on May 9, 2020, unless extended by the Commissioner.
