What if I send the wrong file?
Contact the PaySync® Help Desk at or 877-779-5248. If the payroll has already been “approved” by the PaySync® Help Desk (no major alerts such as abnormally high or low payroll input) we will bill for it and inform you how to correct on the next pay cycle.
What if I don’t have any payroll this cycle?
Select “Enter Payroll” for this particular pay cycle, then select “No Payroll”.
What if I will not have any payroll for an extended period of time?
Contact the PaySync® Help Desk at or 877-779-6248 and we can submit your payroll for an entire season or set length of time.
When are my workers compensation reports processed?
Once the PaySync® Help Desk receives the payroll information, we will process it within 24 hours and send you an email notification that it will be direct debited in two days. Once processed, the billable premium will be displayed on the PaySync® Homepage and the “Pay Cycle Report” will be available.
Will my payroll company send my payroll information directly to Selective?
Some payroll companies will offer to send the information directly to us and we are happy to work with them. Your payroll information will need to be received in our specified format for each pay cycle. It will NOT be submitted thru PaySync® Online since they cannot access it.
If your payroll company will not submit your payroll information on your behalf, you will be notified. Ultimately, you are responsible for providing the payroll information for each pay cycle.
How do I know you received my payroll information?
You will receive a confirmation notification by email when you submit your payroll.

How do I calculate overtime wages?
Calculations will vary by state:
- Delaware and Pennsylvania – 100% overtime wages
- All other states – 2/3% overtime wages

- Delaware and Pennsylvania – 100% overtime wages
- All other states – 2/3% overtime wages
- Effective date of your policy is May 1
- Your first check date on or after May 1 is May 3
Check Date of May 3 includes the payroll from April 25 through May 2.
- Delaware and Pennsylvania – 100% overtime wages
- All other states – 2/3% overtime wages

Why do you want payroll information that starts before the policy?
Workers compensation insurance is paid on a cash basis – meaning the check date determines which payrolls are included in the policy (not by pay cycle). The policy period includes the first check date on or after the effective date until the last check date before the expiration date.
For example:
- Effective date of your policy is May 1
- Your first check date on or after May 1 is May 3
Check Date of May 3 includes the payroll from April 25 through May 2.
- Effective date of your policy is May 1
- Effective date of your policy is May 1
- Your first check date on or after May 1 is May 3
Check Date of May 3 includes the payroll from April 25 through May 2.
- Your first check date on or after May 1 is May 3
Check Date of May 3 includes the payroll from April 25 through May 2.
- Effective date of your policy is May 1
- Your first check date on or after May 1 is May 3
Check Date of May 3 includes the payroll from April 25 through May 2.
Since this check date of May 3 is on or after the effective date of May 1, this entire pay cycle will be included in this term’s premium calculation.
If I am not on the payroll because I only take a “draw,” do I still pay workers compensation premium?
If you are an included executive officer, sole proprietor, partner, etc. you will need to pay a premium on the minimum payroll determined by the state. At audit, if it is determined you were paid more than the minimum payroll, we will collect additional premium based upon the audited figures.
