However, the issue in question was that the incorrect mortgage company was listed on my account which caused an erroneous claims check to be issued on 8/14/2023. On 9/12/2023 I had yet to receive a check so I called Selective again and they said I had to speak with my claims adjuster directly. I called my adjuster and they said they never received the request I made on 8/21 but they would get my account fixed and send me a new check right away. So, my adjuster did the right thing and I appreciate that, what I don't understand is why I was told this would be fixed when I contacted Selective's customer support on 8/21 but seems nothing was actually done. My payments for my home owners and umbrella insurance where always paid online and with automatic credit card charges. This year I received an email with bold lettering, telling me the amount due and the date, below it unbeknown to me thinking it was a regular email as is sent every year in small print Not in bold not capitalized was written a finance charge to be charged for a credit card fee in addition to my annual policy. One of the options was to pay by a checking account or by credit card so I paid one by checking account and one by credit card. The payment went through right away and posted; the following day my credit card was charged for both policies a second time. There was no reason for an email to be sent with an option to pay through the bank and for a credit card to automatically be charged on the following day, when I called and complained, I was told that it would be not an issue and I would receive a refund for the over payment within the next 10 days or so, but I will not receive the full amount as I am being charged for a nonrefundable Credit card fee. Neither a representative or a supervisor said they can do anything about it - OTHER THAN FEELING SCREWED which is how exactly it feels.
