Representatives were zero help. The supervisor was even zero help. My family's auto insurance got cancelled with zero notice due to Selective putting the incorrect CVC code in the payment processing system (per the bank documents provided) when there has been no issue the last two years that my family has been with selective. They actually charged the same exact debit card 2 months after our insurance was cancelled just fine. They tried to get me to pay $159 more dollars to get my insurance reinstated when we were not covered for the month and a half. We received the letter mentioning our insurance had been cancelled just the other day (over 2 months after our insurance lapsed). I asked the representative and supervisor how I would have reassurance that this wouldn't happen again and I got zero reassurance. I subsequently cancelled auto and my home insurance, and I will gladly go back to state farm where I know they will treat my family right and would never let this occur. I will ensure to not recommend Selective to anyone. Very bad customer service!

I have always called after hours & your staff has always helped me with any problems I have.Now & in September. Not with my agent. I didn’t have any satisfaction with my last complaint, & decided to switch companies. As a matter of fact my agent in Bowling Green suggested if I wasn’t happy, I could find another Ins Co. So I did. Everything was done on line, & by phone. The new price was not what they originally gave me. After several calls & no return call, I noticed the new ins co did not contact Selective to cancell my policy like the agent said he would. Selective did auto withdrawal, I called Selective& spoke to the agent Monique. I confided to her that I only switched because my agent never addressed my complaints. Selective always helped us. She took no responsibility when there was a problem. Therefore I would go directly to the Branchville office. Pls look at my file over the years. Monique said it was possible that I could switch agents. I was still insured with Selective. I called Liberty Mutual & cancelled that same night. It was from Dec 7th to Dec 28. So both my Auto & Home Owners remains with Selective. This Seems very confusing I apologize. The sad part is my husband had gotten the Insurance years ago. But when I took over the responsibility there always seemed to be a problem.

I've been a loyal customer with on-time payment via auto pay on my credit card. My credit card (Capital One - VISA, changed to a Capital One- Mastercard). When notified that the card and card # would be changing, I viewed my Capital One recurring merchants and OPC Selective shown as "no action required". Meaning Selective will accept new card without any needed changes. I received a "late notice" from Selective. I called to have an immediate payment and explained. I was told I'd have to pay a $25 late fee. I asked for it to be waived under the circumstances and payment history. The customer care rep (very polite and professional) said that she can not do that, but she'd ask her supervisor and call back. I received a voicemail indicating that her supervisor would not waive the $25 because it was not Selective's fault. I consider this to be an insult to me as a loyal customer. It seems either customer care reps have no authority to solve minor problems or the supervisor is very myopic or black & white as it relates to customer care and retention of a customer.

The 1st agent I called told me I could pay my bill online via credit card, but didn’t offer to help me pay it via phone. I was unable to use a credit card via the mobile phone, called again, and had poor reception with payment department.(She was very nice, just couldn’t here me), the 3rd agent was awesome, figured out the mobile phone issue and took my credit card payment over the phone.

The initial claims intake process was fine however the follow up (or lack of follow up) by the claims rep was aweful. The claim rep never answered her phone and her voice mail message had not been changed in nearly a month. This left me with no idea as to whether she was in the office or not. Finally I had Customer Support direct me to another claim rep who handled the claim. I personally spent almost 40 years in the insurance claims business with Nationwide Ins, both as a claims handler and leader. I can tell you that any rep who handled clalims in this manner would have long ago been placed on a progressive disciple plan.

It took a very long time on the phone to get payment completed. I wanted to make auto and home payment seperate credit cards. had to give all information to one person, then be transferred to another to actually pay the home policy then transferred back to another person to pay the auto, then be transferred back to actually pay the auto. took a lot of my time, process way to slow. I kept stating I wanted to make sure commission went to new agent not awful old agent, who I could not get price quotes for the coverages I asked for, for an entire year, but the people i spoke to when i called to pay kept saying they had no agent information, they had no idea and were not going to find out.

Initially helpful, the rep eventually decided that the policy he was putting together would not be appropriate and handed me off to another rep. That person was on his way home and said he would work on it the next morning and call me. Never did. Nothing. Not happy as I am under a time crunch to cover my new home before closing. you are charging a fee for an outdated credit card account. That is not acceptable. Notify you need an updated expiration or that the card couldn't be processed. You don't incur a charge and it should not be treated the same as a bounced check. also it has now been almost a week since i told you to wave the fee and nobody has gotten back to me as promised.

My statement/bill was extraordinarily confusing (and unnecessarily so.) The lady with whom I spoke checked to see exactly what "prior balance" referred to, found that "Payment(s) we received - thank you" really meant my 2019 premium, and "account activity since your last statement" really meant my 2020 premium. Then she found that I had received a 15% discount for two months, total of $18.90 (approximately the cost of the one tank of gasoline I've purchased since end end of February) and then it made sense. That is a very, very confusing account summary because the line item descriptions are not correct, at least to the consumer. The reason I'm very satisfied has nothing to do with my bill; that would have gotten a very dissatisfied 1. My rating has to do only with the service I received when I called. My banking statement showed that it was paid on September 2, 2020. The letter I received threatening cancellation was dated September 11 and arrived two or three days after that. There was no issues with the individual I chatted with. He was as helpful as he could have been. My issue is with your app I used to make payment and your policy regarding paying back money sent to you. The first payment I made was not acknowledged via the app or email for almost a day afterward and me being as persistent as I am about paying bills early as I can figured maybe the transaction did not go through. Therefore I ended up making a second payment for the same amount totalling over $600. Soon after this I realized both payments did indeed go through to you, my mistake, but I felt somewhat deceived by your apps inability to properly inform me of the first payments processing status. So then I figured it was an honest mistake and that I would contact the text chat feature on your app and resolve the issue. I figured you would simply be able to sent me back my second over payment as easily as I sent it to you, but I was wrong. For some reason you have to hold onto my hard earned $600+ for 10 days and then send me a paper check in the mail that I have to bring to the bank? Thanks for the inconvenience, but that is ridiculous. How hard is it to quick send me back my money? I am just a person with a bank account and I can send you money in a snap, you are a huge insurance company with hundreds, maybe thousands of employees and you cannot figure out how to return payments to your customers as easily as they send them to you? Just don't think that is a good policy. Due to this, I will be looking around for another insurance company to insure my vehicles and property.

Most insurance companies have already provided a reduced payment during the pandemic. This company has yet to provide in writing an empathic consideration of economic hardships that may have impacted their ability to continue the pay the monthly requirement. Having to abide by federal and state guidelines has made driving beyond necessity a lesser priority and our coverage should have reflected such. Considerations for a more empathic insurance company is being considered.

Later in the day she called back and said we had to have our collision center take pictures and send to Selective. Really not a big deal but just set us back a day.
